Committee Objectives & Continuing Activities
academic committee
- To build and maintain potential full time ISACA® member candidates and promote the organization within the context of the academic environment.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
certification committee
- To be able to answer questions most often asked about the CISA®/CISM®/CGEIT® programs or to be able to refer the person to the right source.
- To publicize the CISA/CISM/CGEIT programs within the Chapter.
- To help candidates to prepare for the CISA/CISM Examinations.
- To help increase the membership in the Chapter.
- To help the CISA/CISM/CGEIT programs at the international level.
- Publish information concerning the CISA/CISM/CGEIT programs in the Chapter Newsletter.
- Attend all Chapter activities to be able to present the CISA/CISM/CGEIT programs and answer questions about the program.
- Maintain a Chapter library of CISA/CISM/CGEIT Examination preparation materials.
- Identify and recommend Chapter members and other local IT Audit Professionals for CISA/CISM/CGEIT program support tasks locally and internationally.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee's anticipated expenses.
facilities committee
- To arrange for the facilities and services for the Chapter Year.
- Determine the date, time, place and cost of all chapter meetings, subject to approval of the Board of Directors.
- Make meeting place reservations and all special arrangements, including the menu and cash bar.
- Coordinate with: a) Program Committee and b) Seminar Committee.
- Provide support to the CISA Coordinator in arranging for meetings.
- Assure that ISACA materials, e.g., Membership Applications, Job Bank summaries, CISA Bulletins, etc. are available at all Chapter meetings.
- Collect dinner fees and authorize payment.
- File report of attendance, collections and payment with Treasurer within 24 hours of the meeting.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
internet committee
- To provide the Chapter members with an up to date and useful medium for keeping up with Chapter activities and to communicate areas of interest and feedback to the Local Chapter Board.
- At the beginning of the year, review the site content and format.
- Solicit input from the Chapter Board and members and implement appropriate and technically feasible recommendations.
- Obtain updated Board biographies and photographs for inclusion within the site.
- Coordinate monthly content changes with the Newsletter Committee and obtain copies of articles and other materials for inclusion within the site.
- Review the contracts for the Local Chapter URL and web hosting and update if necessary.
- Review ISACA International website guidelines and policies and implement appropriate changes.
- On a monthly basis report site statistics and maintenance status to the Chapter Board.
- Prepare a budget request for costs anticipated for the implementation and maintenance of the site.
membership committee
- To encourage and improve overall attendance at ISACA Chapter meetings.
- To strive for regular attendance by all Chapter members.
- To achieve a percentage improvement over the prior year’s attendance.
- To actively seek new members, to promote the interest of prospective members in the Chapter and to maintain the interest of current members.
- To review and recommend action on all applications for membership and changes in membership category submitted to the Chapter to ensure that requirements for membership are met and that standards of eligibility are maintained.
- Conduct an annual ISACA Membership Campaign.
- Assure that ALL ISACA programs (certifications, education, etc.) are presented to prospective members.
- Conduct an annual survey members to ensure we are meeting their needs.
- Make contact with other local organizations and other ISACA Chapters, inquiring about the means used to further their attendance.
- Review membership change requests to ensure that International has reflected the appropriate change(s).
- Maintain Chapter membership through a follow-up program under which absentees are contacted.
- Determine reasons for absences and correct shortcomings.
- Coordinate with the CISA coordinator to assure attendance at those Chapter activities.
- To maintain an updated job bank listing to be distributed at the monthly dinner meetings.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
newsletter committee
- To assure that Chapter members are kept informed of the interests, the activities and the special programs of ISACA International and of the local Chapter.
- At the beginning of the year, a) review the present Newsletter format and implement any format changes, and b) review advertising policies and solicit advertising.
- Contact other local organizations with which ISACA and the local chapter exchange information to formalize procedures.
- State editorial policies in first issue.
- Determine a publishing schedule for the year.
- Announce Newsletter deadlines for submission of material well in advance of due dates.
- Obtain meeting notes from the Recording Secretary, the Board and Chapter at large for inclusion in the Newsletter.
- Send a copy of each monthly Newsletter to each member.
- Periodically determine if we are obtaining the appropriate service level for printing services. Assess whether a bid process should be completed.
- Coordinate the printing and mailing of the Newsletter.
- Enter Chapter Newsletters in the ISACA Annual Newsletter Contest.
- Prepare and submit a Budget request to cover expenses for publication of the Newsletter and other anticipated expenses.
nominating committee
- To ensure the continued advancement of the local ISACA Chapter by nominating well-qualified and experienced members for all the elected Officers provided for in the Chapter Bylaws.
- Identify, interview and nominate all Chapter Officers for the new Chapter year.
- Review the complete responsibilities and standards of performance of each Office with the candidates for that Office.
- Report the Nominations to the Board of Directors and to the Chapter Meeting.
- Hold scheduled meetings throughout the year for appraising potential candidates for Officer and Director positions.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
audit committee
- To audit the accounts and financial records of the Chapter in accordance with sound accounting practices.
- Plan and review the Chapter’s audit practices.
- Submit a report on the results of the audit to the newly elected President.
- Review the results of the audit with the new Chapter Treasurer.
- Present the results of the audit at the regular Chapter meeting.
- Present the finding of the audit at the regular Chapter meeting.
- Review the Chapter’s accounting records from all points of view and recommend any changes which will result in the best possible system.
- Review the format and procedures of the Audit Report and recommend any necessary changes.
- Study the objective of the Audit Committee along with the continuing activities, the special activities, and the list of the responsibilities and recommend changes which will make them better in any way.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
program committee
- To prepare and recommend an interesting, informative Program for the Chapter Year which will contribute to the growth of the participating membership.
- Develop Program Topics and a Program Budget for submission to the Board of Directors.
- Obtain speakers or leaders for each meeting, including their biographical material and manage all speaker arrangements.
- Conduct the Speaker Program at each meeting.
- Provide “Speaker Evaluation Reports” and follow-up letters of acknowledgement.
- Maintain a Record of Program Committee Meetings.
- Build a library of program topics and speakers.
- Coordinate program committee activities with: a) Facilities, b) CISA, c) Newsletter, d) Chapter Officers, and other relevant committees.
- Provide biographical material of all dinner speakers to the Newsletter editor.
seminar committee
- To provide a dynamic program of stimulating EDP audit-oriented subjects for discussion.
- To conduct exercises which will improve the audit effectiveness of members through:
- Developing or obtaining training programs or management games based on important, critical, or controversial EDP audit subjects.
- Arranging seminar programs to present these subjects to the membership.
- Maintain, promote and market existing programs.
- Plan and present a seminar or workshop program on a topic of current interest, using a Chapter development program, if possible.
- Present the results of the seminar to a wider audience by publication in the local chapter newsletter and in the EDP Auditor Journal.
- Provide support to the Chapter CISA Coordinator in assisting CISA Examination candidates to prepare for the Examination.
- Prepare and submit a budget request for the year to cover the Committee’s anticipated expenses.
